Due to the volume of applications, we are unable to contact you individually to unlock your portfolios.◈ Please state all content warnings clearly e.g. NSFW, graphic violence, suicide including ideation, bodily harm, torture, character death, etc.◈ You may apply for multiple positions, and will be informed of which position you are accepted for, if any. Please submit the appropriate form for each position.◈ Applicants are judged on the quality of the portfolio. Page Artist Expectations◈ You will be asked to make one single-page art OR two-page spread OR two-page comic OR four-page comic, using the template we provide.◈ Page/Spread art should be in full color, 300 dpi, CMYK format. We can assist with conversion if needed. Traditional art is also acceptable if you can scan in 300 dpi.◈ Comics may be in full color or grayscale.Page Artist Guidelines◈ Please submit a portfolio of 3-10 fully-rendered artworks or comics in the style and quality you plan to do for the zine.◈ All work in your portfolio should be solely drawn and colored by you from start to finish.◈ If there are more than 10 pieces in the portfolio, we recommend that you label which ones are your best works e.g. by stating it in the file name or placing them in a subfolder.◈ If applying for comics, please have at least one comic in your portfolio.◈ If applying for page/spread art, please have at least one piece with full background (i.e. no solid color/simple gradient) in your portfolio.◈ Having a Genshin or xianxia themed piece in your portfolio will strengthen your application but is optional.◈ Portfolio will be judged on anatomy, composition, background, colors/lighting, and storytelling.◈ Application Form Password #2: tongzaijiu

Writer Expectations◈ You will be asked to write one fic of around 3k words, in third person.◈ You may use either US or UK English, past or present tense, as long as it is consistent throughout the fic.◈ All fics will be reviewed by our Writing & Cultural Sensitivity Mod for spelling, punctuation, grammar (SPaG), and cultural inaccuracies (e.g. if your characters are eating burgers and fries, we will ask you to change this).Writer Guidelines◈ Please submit a portfolio of 3-5 fics of 2-4k words, in the style and quality you plan to write for the zine.◈ All work in your portfolio should be written by you from start to finish.◈ At least one fic should be complete. The rest may be standalone excerpts.◈ If there are more than 5 fics in the portfolio, we recommend that you label which ones are your best works e.g. by stating it in the file name or placing them in a folder.◈ The total word count in your portfolio should be < 15k. We will not review more than 15k words per portfolio.◈ Having a Genshin or xianxia themed piece in your portfolio will strengthen your application but is optional.◈ Portfolio will be judged on imagery, pacing, flow and the ability to tell a compelling story within a restricted word count. Merch Artist Expectations◈ You will be asked to create 2-4 pieces of merch art for the zine. You will be able to select the item(s) you are interested in doing in the application form.◈ All art must be in full color, 300 dpi, CMYK color, and follow all other guidelines appropriate to the merch item. We can assist with conversion if needed.◈ We will be handling the actual manufacturing of the merch items.Merch Artist Guidelines◈ Please submit a portfolio of 3-20 merch art, in the style and quality you plan to do for the zine.◈ All work in your portfolio should be solely drawn and colored by you from start to finish.◈ If there are more than 20 pieces in the portfolio, we recommend that you label which ones are your best works e.g. by stating it in the file name or placing them in a subfolder.◈ Please have at least one Genshin or xianxia art in your portfolio.◈ Please have at least one chibi art in your portfolio.◈ Prior merch experience and photographs of your merch is a bonus but not necessary.◈ Your merch samples do not have to match the exact item you are applying for, but it cannot be a complete mismatch (e.g. please do not use a page art portfolio to apply for stickersheets).◈ Application Form Password #4: herizaijianne

◈ What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is an unofficial compilation of fanworks such as fanfics and fanart made by fans, bound into the form of a book. It often comes with merch as well!◈ Is this legal?
Yes! miHoYo welcomes content creators to produce and sell fanmerch as long as we abide by their fanmerch guidelines.◈ What is xianxia?
Xianxia (仙侠) is a genre of Chinese fantasy that is similar to a mix of the high fantasy and sword-and-sorcery genres in Western fantasy. Some popular elements commonly seen in this genre are cultivators with long flowing hair and flowing robes, flying swords, spiritual tools and talismans, and martial arts.◈ Is there a unified setting in this zine?
Yes! We will provide a list of standardized terms, a simplified cultivation system, and other basic elements that would be expected in a xianxia setting such as sects and items. Contributors will have the freedom of worldbuilding in depth as they wish.◈ Do you also accept xuanhuan and wuxia elements?
Yes, as long as it doesn't clash with any of the basic xianxia elements. The mods will be happy to discuss pitches with you in detail.◈ How will contact for this zine work?
You will be asked for your email and at least one social media platform where we can reach you just in case. All applicants will receive an email. If accepted, contributors will be required to join the Discord for announcements and coordination purposes, except for extenuating circumstances.◈ Will you offer portfolio reviews?
Due to the volume of applications expected, we are unable to offer portfolio reviews.◈ Can I put a fanwork I already finished in the zine?
No, all fanworks for this zine must be newly created for the zine.◈ What happens to the fanwork I submit to the zine?
You retain all rights to your own work. We ask that you keep the fanwork a secret until sales are over, after which you are free to post, print, or sell your own work as you like.◈ Why is there such a long gap between final submissions and pre-orders?
This allows us to account for last minute extensions, formatting issues, as well as delays from the manufacturer. This means that we can show off sample product photos when pre-orders open, and also minimize production time after pre-orders end!

◈ How does compensation work for this zine?
Compensation will occur in stages:
Stage 1. All mods & contributors are guaranteed the full bundle (does not include shipping). The mods will pay out of pocket if necessary.
Stage 2. Any profits made from sales will first go towards covering shipping for all mods & contributors. Additional items are available at production cost, capped at 3 of each item. Merch artists may arrange for bulk production of their own merch. Any additional shipping costs resulting from the extra weight will not be covered.
Stage 3. Any excess profits after full bundle + shipping will be split as follows:

Promo Artists are Guest Artists who are helping with promotional artwork and graphics, such as the ones seen on our social media. As each of them has to produce 3-4x (or even more) the amount of art as a regular contributor, they will receive additional compensation.
